The Jeep Cherokee (now all Jeep Grand Cherokee) took stage front and center in the mid 70’s as a colleague of the Jeep Wagoneer and has been a staple in the car industry and the Jeep brand ever since. With its roots intertwined in the Jeep name, it was introduced as what we know as a mid-sized SUV after its initial introduction in 1974; it eventually became a compact SUV in 1984, and then eventually a crossover SUV. The Jeep Cherokee hasn’t left since and shows no signs of letting go of its power grip in the car industry. Jeep was the first to coin the term “Sports Utility Vehicle” (SUV) in a pamphlet in the 1974 Jeep Cherokee brochure, and a new term and idea was born. The Cherokee took the place of the Jeepster Commando after sales slowed down in 1972. The first initial trim levels introduced in the Jeep Cherokee were the Jeep Cherokee S, The Jeep Cherokee Chief, The Jeep Cherokee Golden Hawk, The Jeep Cherokee Limited, The Jeep Cherokee Classic, The Jeep Cherokee Pioneer, and the Jeep Cherokee Lorado.
An instant best seller, the Jeep Cherokee would eventually be known as the innovator of what we know now as the modern SUV. Competitors and other automakers noticed that this new design replaced traditional cars and tried to quickly follow suite. Jeep is a brand of its own, and the Jeep Cherokee is top notch against the competition. The second generation has strong ties to the evolution of 4x4 and the Jeep Cherokee hasn’t slowed down since.
In its 5th generation since 2014, the Jeep Cherokee currently has five different trim levels offered: The Jeep Cherokee Latitude, The Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus, The Jeep Cherokee Limited, The Jeep Cherokee Altitude, and the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Latitude comes standard with U Connect, blue tooth, and voice command. It also has several safety options packages available.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is smooth and sexy; with standard leather heated and ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel, this beauty will keep you warm in Wisconsin winters and cool on hot Wisconsin summer days.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude is different simply because of its color options and black wheels. Sleek is the name of the Altitude.
And finally, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk; equipped with signature red towing hooks in the front and one in the back, this bad boy comes in 4-wheel drive, sits higher than the other Jeep Cherokees trim levels, is trail rated for off roading, and has U Connect with voice activation and blue tooth.
