The Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) is an integral part of new RAM trucks. In fact, it’s crucial if you want to upfit your truck. We’re taking a closer look at Schmit Bros Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM.

What Does It Do?

The Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) is a system that makes it easier to add specific upfit options to your RAM truck. It uses hardwired inputs and outputs to help you command your altered vehicle. Beginning in 2019, it also added output signals and input commands.

How Do I Use it?

You can only utilize the VSIM when your truck is on. You won’t be able to use the feature if your key is in the off position. The system uses hardwired J1939 commands to turn on certain features and functions.

How Do I Know if I Have a VSIM?

The VSIM has been included as standard on Chassis Cabs since 2019. It’s included as a standalone option or part of a package for the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 pickups. Remember that the VSIM must be factory-installed and cannot be added after assembly.

Do I Need it?

The VSIM is crucial if you’re considering upfitting your RAM truck. RAM upfits are ideal for people looking to utilize their truck for work and need a customized vehicle. These are merely a few of the trades that would benefit from an upfitted truck:

  • Construction
  • Catering
  • Electrical
  • HVAC
  • Landscaping
  • Plumbing
