The Jeep Gladiator is back and better than ever. 25 years after the initial first introduction, well into the midst of the gas crisis of the 70’s, the Jeep Gladiator offers the comforts of a traditional Jeep with the convenience of a truck.
As the United States prepared for World War 2, they wanted a vehicle that could fit the needs of off roading, driving through fields, and capabilities in standing water but also handled well on the roads to and from base. This idea led to the design of the Willys MA and the Willys MB. After the war was over, the idea of a Jeep shifted gears and the notion of a car for an average farmer with modern farming equipment and fields; for tough outdoor work and able to go from point A to point B with ease.
Equipped with 4-wheel drive over 10 years before any competitor truck, the Jeep model held strong, and the introduction of the Jeep Gladiator was born. Available for purchase in 1962, it had the same front-end style as its predecessor, the Jeep Wagoneer. As part of the J series Jeep trucks, this model stuck around until 1971 when production was focused more on traditional Jeeps for farmers and working-class families. Eventually, Jeep wanted a vehicle capable of handling itself in vast fields of wilderness, crossing rocky terrain to get to a rock-climbing destination, and going by vehicle to your favorite hiking spot in the forest; all while driving in style and being able to go to the movie theater or pick your kids up from ballet class.
Re-introduced in April of 2019 with improvements in off road suspension and a new sway bar, the Jeep Gladiator shows no sight of slowing down. With 4 new and fresh models like the Jeep model itself, it has everything for everyone’s needs (with a cab included!) From the sleek and stylish old fashioned Jeep Gladiator Sport to the Jeep Gladiator Overland for a smoother freeway ride, and to the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, which is made for off roading and towing, you’re sure to find what you need in a Jeep Gladiator. Many different options are included with several models, including Tru-Lok differential, forward facing trail cams, and hard and soft top models.
