Originally, Chrysler was founded by Walter Chrysler with what was left of the Maxwell Motor Company in 1925. One of the Detroit Big Three, it was bought by Daimler in 1998. Since 2014, Chrysler has been under Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. This group also owns Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Mopar.
Chrysler’s branding, as well as its cars, has found a place in American mainstream culture. We have put together a list of some of the best cars that Chrysler has made, in order of when they were released.
1926-1993 Chrysler Imperial
The Chrysler Imperial was a top-of-the-line luxury car. It was in 1956 that the Imperial carried the world’s first transistor radio. Luxury had a price, and it wasn’t cheap. Its later years, it saw lessening sales, so it was retired after a span over many decades.
1939-1961 Chrysler Windsor
The Chrysler Windsor began as a junior to the New Yorker. Following a production stop during WWII, the Windsor came back in 1946. From 1946 to 1948, its sales made it the top car for Chrysler. By 1961, it was time to move on and so the Windsor retired on a high note.
1940-1996 Chrysler New Yorker
One of the longest-running Chrysler names is the New Yorker. It managed to survive WWII, even though there was a lull in production. It lasted a solid five plus decades and came in many different trims and looks for the times. There were many years of it being a bestseller. A car that lasts more than 50 years has to be something special.
1960-1981 Chrysler Newport
The Newport was an existing nameplate as part of the New Yorker in the ‘50s. The ‘60s saw it break off and become an economy car; existing as a sedan, hardtop, convertible, and a station wagon.
1975-1983 Chrysler Cordoba
Also known as the DOBA, the Cordoba was a luxury coupe and the first Chrysler vehicle that wasn’t as full-sized as Chryslers were. It even did a stint in NASCAR! Many of the earlier models are now considered collectibles in the car world.
1987-1995 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible
A far cry from its earlier boxy design in the 80’s, the LeBaron was a pretty hot commodity. It won several races from through the 80’s and 90’s and was built by many different racing teams. The LeBaron was eventually replaced by the Chrysler Cirrus.
1992-2004 Chrysler Concorde
The Concorde carried on where the New Yorker and the LHS stopped and became the flagship for Chrysler. The aerodynamics gave the Concorde a lower drag, which was ahead of its time.
1994-1997 Chrysler LHS
The Chrysler LHS was one the most expensive platform cars. By global standards, the LHS is right up there with the best of the best for its time. The LHS ended in 1997, but the legacy continued with the Concorde Limited.
1995-2000 Chrysler Cirrus
The Chrysler Cirrus, the Dodge Stratus, and the Plymouth Breeze were all named after sky elements. All three cars were related, with the Chrysler Cirrus being the priciest one with the most bells and whistles.
2005-2022 Chrysler 300
Unlike the smaller Chrysler 200, the Chrysler 300 lasted a lot longer, until this past year. The Chrysler 300 had a huge level of popularity. The powerful engine and the better ride make this a luxurious purchase. Not to mention the Chrysler 300 hurrah the SRT.
2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen
Not to be confused with the Dodge Aspen, the Chrysler Aspen was a full-size SUV based on the Dodge Durango. The idea was to take a rugged SUV and add every luxurious trim to it. In 2009, it made a quiet exit.
2007-2009 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
In 2008, the Chrysler Sebring convertible ranked number two in sales as a four-seat convertible, behind only the Ford Mustang. While the car resembled the Chrysler Crossfire, this was a sporty ride that people loved.
2008-2016 Chrysler Town & Country
The Chrysler Town & Country name used to be a very different car until it became a minivan. The 2008 Town & Country entered its third generation and remained a popular minivan. Sales were pretty good until it was replaced in 2017 by the Pacifica.
2010-2016 Chrysler 200
The Chrysler 200 was a midsize sedan that came with a shorter than Chrysler wanted lifespan. Sales were always strong and steady with the 200. The people who bought it still love it and seek it regularly.
2017-Present day Chrysler Pacifica
While this one is the newest to this group, people absolutely love it, and sales show why. A 3.6-liter V6 engine makes it a powerful choice. It also comes hybrid! The hybrid model can go 30 miles on electric power alone. Advanced security and safety features also make it a good buy for anyone.
So many amazing vehicles and history when it comes to Chrysler. Currently, Chryslers makes the Pacifica and there are talks of a newer van called the Voyager coming soon, so keep your ears open for the announcement!
