Highly versatile, the Grand Cherokee L offers three available 4x4 systems and a host of capability features designed for off-road trails, city streets and everything in between. Being introduced in 2021, it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon and is one of Jeep’s best sellers.
The fifth-generation Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L replace a Grand Cherokee that has been around in the same basic form since the 2011 model year. That means there are plenty of used Grand Cherokees to choose from if you want to save money. In fact, the current-generation two-row Grand Cherokee will carry on for the 2021 model year, until it’s replaced later this year by the updated 2022 variant that the Grand Cherokee L is based upon.
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will be offered in four main trims: Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. Many SUV shoppers will likely aim for the middle of the range, where the Limited and Overland models will offer available features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen (versus the standard 8.4-inch screen), an optional V8, and off-road-themed accessories like underbody skid plates and heavier-duty 4-wheel-drive systems. Overland and Summit models will also offer the 5.7 L Hemi V8 gasoline engine with Multi Displacement System (MDS) rated at 357 hp and 390 lb of torque. The Grand Cherokee will offer a 950-watt, 19 speakers McIntosh premium amplified surround sound audio system, replacing the previous 825-watt, eighteen-speaker Harman Kardon system on the Grand Cherokee WK2. Other new features available for the first time on a Grand Cherokee include massaging front seats, a rear seat view camera, a surround-view (360-degree) camera system, a rearview camera digital mirror, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Qi-compatible wireless device charging, heated and ventilated second-row seats, second-row captain's chairs, 21-inch tires and wheels, Level 2 semi-autonomous driving technology, and power-folding second and third-row seats.
For the first time ever, Grand Cherokee comes with three rows of seating that lets you take more people and pets on your adventures. The interior seats up to seven passengers with spacious second-row legroom. The Grand Cherokee L brings much more than extra seating: This newest version also raises the SUV’s game when it comes to technology and luxury touches.
