Have you heard some rumblings about the brand-new Dodge Hornet SUV? It’s not available yet, but we’re sharing some early details to whet your appetite.
Power and Acceleration
The Dodge Hornet comes with a 265-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option. This vehicle has some great pep and will get you from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.
The First Dodge Plug-In Hybrid
Dodge is also offering a plug-in hybrid for the first time. The Dodge Hornet R/T comes with a turbocharged 1.3-liter, four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that combine to put out 285 net horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard.
The R/T plug-in hybrid also comes with a unique feature: PowerShot. Using paddle shifters, these can temporarily add 25 horsepower. It can also get you from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds. The all-electric driving range is a manufacturer-estimated 30 miles, and a Level 2 charger will get the 12.0-kWh battery fully charged in about 2.5 hours.
Tech and Safety
The Dodge Hornet is generous with its standard tech features, including a Uconnect® infotainment system with a 10.3-inch touchscreen, Amazon Alexa®, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™ (the latter both come with wireless capability). Available features include a 14-speaker Harman Kardon® stereo and a smartphone charging pad.
Many safety systems come built into every Dodge Hornet, such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Parking sensors and blind spot monitoring are also included.
