The Jeep has been around and participated during some very historical events. Between the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Jeep Wagoneer, the Willy’s, and handfuls of other makes and models, Jeep has a brand that has stood the test of time. Starting during World War 2, Jeep has been innovative and on the cusp of trends and technology since the get go. Not surprisingly, Jeep Cherokee has the 4xe. What is the 4xe even mean?
The Jeep Cherokee 4xe trim is a plug-in hybrid that is new to the Jeep Wrangler world. It has a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, and two electric motors that combine to produce 375 horsepower. In addition to getting 49 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent), it can go up to 21 miles on just electricity alone.
Dang.
While plug in hybrids and electric cars aren’t a new concept, Jeep is taking the reins on this one in 2022 in trying to find a happy medium between the all-electric and all-gas world in the car industry. A plug-in hybrid can run on both electricity and gas so you don’t have to worry about charging up at either inconvenient times or when you’re in a time crunch. It’s the perfect way to help lower your carbon foot print without completely cutting out the gas run vehicles in your life. You literally get the best of both worlds!
The Jeep Cherokee 4xe comes in multiple trim levels for everyone’s needs.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4xe uses the Quadra-Trac II active 4WD with its 2-speed transfer case. It also gets the Select-Terrain traction management system with five modes. Standard comes with dual zone climate control, a 10.25 digital gauge cluster, cloth seats, six USB ports, and two 12-volt power ports, and keyless entry with push-button start. UConnect 5 media and a 9-speaker audio system as well!
The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe is Grand Cherokee’s most off-road capable trim. It is standard with the Quadra-Drive II 4WD system. It also comes with an electronic rear limited-slip differential and Select-Speed Control. Trailhawk also adds front tow hooks, an integrated off-road camera, a gloss-black roof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and suede seat inserts.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, upgraded LED exterior lights, and power-folding outboard mirrors with puddle lights. It also features a power panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, and a power-adjustable steering wheel.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4xe builds up on the foundation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Additionally getting the electronic rear limited-slip differential back, Summit adds quad-zone automatic climate control and Nappa leather seating with quilted bolsters. Summit also adds front-seat extendable bottom cushions, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, massaging front seats, and the Active Driving Assist system. An upgraded Uconnect 5 system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and navigation, driver attention warning, and Intersection Collision Assist are standard.
There is a Jeep 4xe model to fit any and everyone’s needs. If you’re concerned about your carbon footprint but not yet ready to say goodbye to gasoline, we think the Jeep Cherokee 4xe is the perfect model for everyone!
