1322 × 576When there’s work to be done, you can always count on a RAM 1500. While they can be fantastic daily drivers, their true potential comes out when there is a job to do. This guide goes over the specs and features of this truck and why it’s ideal for towing.

Power and Tow Ratings

Even the base engine in the RAM 1500 is impressive – it’s a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 305 horsepower and 269 lbs.-ft. of torque. There are also three others available:

·       5.7-liter V8: 395 horsepower and 410 lbs.-ft. of torque

·       3.0-liter V6 diesel: 260 horsepower and 480 lbs.-ft. of torque

·       6.2-liter supercharged V8: 702 horsepower and 650 lbs.-ft. of torque

For your towing needs, you may not have to go past that base engine, as it will let you tow up to 7,730 pounds. If that won’t cut it, the 5.7-liter V8 has a tow rating between 8,100 and 11,560 pounds, and the V6 diesel can tow up to 12,560 pounds. For the greatest towing ability, you’ll want to opt for the 6.2-liter V8 with a Quad cab, as this has a maximum tow rating of 12,750 pounds.
