Developed as a concept car in 1999 called the Citadel9, the Chrysler Pacifica did not make its debut in the automotive industry until 2004 and is different from what we know as a Chrysler Pacifica today. Starting in the 2004 year, the Chrysler Pacifica was in the category of an SUV Crossover and then transitioned to a minivan after a short hiatus from 2008 to 2017. After its reintroduction in the 2017 automotive year, the Chrysler Pacifica replaced the Chrysler Town and Country and is now one of the most popular selling minivans on the market. The Chrysler Pacifica has single handedly reinvented how the public perceives minivans with its technological advances and up to date safety features. The Chrysler Pacifica is also the first minivan to ever go hybrid, trailblazing it’s way through the automotive masses.

Not only is Pacifica the name of a small town in Northern California, only twelve miles north of San Francisco, it is also known for its peaceful and calm nature. The perfect city on the beach for sandcastle building and relaxation, the Chrysler Pacifica entails what its name is cracked up to be. After all, Pacifica in Spanish means “peaceable”.

The Chrysler Pacifica was initially introduced with lavish and luxurious features and was a SUV Crossover with style. Often found with leather seats, options for heated seats, and other features, the Chrysler Pacifica was ahead of its time.

Stepping down in 2008 to focus on other SUV’s and vans, Chrysler decided to bring back the Pacifica in 2017 but instead of having it as an SUV, it was turned into a minivan. It was one of the best decisions Chrysler made because sales started out hot and have yet to die down.

When it was reintroduced, Chrysler decided to make a hybrid version of the Pacifica and it was the first ever hybrid minivan.

Currently, the Chrysler Pacifica comes in four different trim levels: The Chrysler Pacifica Touring, the Chrysler Pacifica Touring L, the Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Plus, and the Chrysler Pacifica Limited. The hybrid Pacifica comes as the Chrysler Pacifica Touring Plus Hybrid, the Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Hybrid, and the Chrysler Pacifica Limited Hybrid. Even the first trim levels come with features such as three zone temperature control, keyless entry, and rear camera, just to name a few.

With awards ranging from best minivan to family vehicle of the year to top minivan, the Chrysler Pacifica looks like it’s here to stay.
